What We Treat

Comprehensive Brain Health & Hearing Care

Most hearing clinics stop at the ear. Rick starts with a bigger question: what is your hearing loss doing to your brain?

Cognitive Screening icon

Cognitive Screening

Rick screens with Cognivue, a short computerized test you take in the office. It checks how well you’re remembering things, following conversations, and keeping track of daily tasks. He uses the results to build a treatment plan around where you actually are today.

If your ears ring, buzz, or hum, you’ve probably been told to live with it. You don’t have to. Rick’s tinnitus treatment quiets it enough that most patients finally sleep through the night.

4-Year Treatment Program

Your treatment runs four years, and your hearing aids are included from day one. You get updated technology at the end of each cycle. One monthly payment covers your visits, your adjustments, and your equipment.

Hearing Aids Are Only Half the Work

They make sound louder. Your brain still has to make sense of it.

That gap is why a hearing aid can still leave you frustrated at a restaurant. You hear the room perfectly well. You just can’t pick out what your daughter said across the table.

Rick measures that before he treats it. The Cognivue screening gives him a baseline for how well your brain is handling what your ears deliver.

Then you train it. LACE AI, from Neurotone, is a listening program you use at home on a tablet or computer. It gives your brain practice at the hardest part of hearing, which is separating one voice from everything else in the room.

The screening is repeatable, so Rick can run it again down the road and see what moved.

It’s what you do about it that counts

Untreated hearing loss makes your brain work overtime filling the gaps. Rick tests hearing and cognition in the same visit, because they’re the same problem.

Rick Fauvor has spent 40 years studying how hearing and brain health are connected. Doctors are only now starting to talk about that link. Rick has been treating it for decades.

A standard hearing test tells you which sounds you’ve lost. Rick goes further. He looks at how those missing sounds are affecting your memory, your balance, and your ability to follow a conversation at a crowded table. Your treatment is built around that bigger picture.

Neuroscience-Backed Care

Rick worked with Dr. Keith Darrow, PhD, a neuroscientist trained at Harvard Medical School and MIT, and follows his teachings on the brain-hearing connection. That research reaches patients here in the Treasure Valley.
